Welcome! Welcome!
Hello, And welcome to the Lou Anders very infrequent and non-obtrusive newsletter. It was wonderful to meet everyone at the Pelham Writing Workshop yesterday. Thanks to Anita Saxena for inviting me and thanks to all of you for coming to hear me speak. I find that I always learn something new, or at least find a new way to articulate an old idea in a way that sheds insights, when I teach, and I really enjoy it. I hope you all got something from the workshop as well and wish you success in your writing. Remember to watch Casablanca! I realized while I was signing books that I should have recommended two software programs that help with novel writing. The first is Contour, from Mariner Software, which is a program that takes you through the process of outlining a screenplay. I find it useful in generating novel outlines as well. The second is Scrivener, from Literature & Latte. This isn't an idea-generating program so much as an organizational tool. It makes novel writing so much easier to manage. It's used by many professional writers, and I highly recommend it if you are series about producing a novel.
Finally, for those of you in or near Birmingham, I'd love to invite you to the launch event for Nightborn, the second book in the Thrones & Bones series, which will be held at 4pm on July 18th at the Barnes & Noble, Summit Shopping Center, 201 Summit Boulevard Suite 100, Birmingham, AL 35243. I hope to see you there!
Sincerely,
Lou Anders
