Listen to the Thrones & Bones Adventure Hour
The RPG Gamer Dad Podcast is a wonderful podcast dedicated to the idea of playing pen and paper role playing games with kids. RPG Gamer Dad and his adorable six year old son, RPG Gamer Boy, are part of an amazing family. They are also Thrones & Bones fans. Recently, they've been playing and podcasting a series of games set in the world of my novels and powered by the wonderful Fate Accelerated role playing game system from Evil Hat Productions. Episode 35 features the character generation, in which RPG Gamer Dad and RPG Gamer Boy stat out Karn and Thianna from my novel Frostbornas well as a three-headed troll. Then we get to listen to the first part of the actual play, in which RPG Gamer Boy plays Karn and RPG Gamer Uncle plays Thianna. Part Two continues the adventure. And this past Monday, they concluded with a double-episode featuring parts three and four and an interview with Yours Truly. I cannot tell you how much fun it was for me to listen to this delightful family gaming in my world, nor what an honor they do me! I hope you will give it a listen.

Nightborn Debuts Next Week!
Hello, and welcome to another edition of Lou Anders' very infrequent, non-obtrusive newsletter. The BIG NEWS this month is the forthcoming debut of Nightborn, the second book in the Thrones & Bones series, which comes out next Tuesday, July 14th. For those of you in or near Birmingham, I'd love to invite you to the launch event for Nightborn, which will be held at 4pm on July 18th at the Barnes & Noble, Summit Shopping Center, 201 Summit Boulevard Suite 100, Birmingham, AL 35243. Next up: The Thrones & Bones website is undergoing an expansion in anticipation of Nightborn's release. One of the first bits of new content is the addition of four new maps by amazing cartographer Robert Lazzaretti (of Dungeons & Dragons and Pathfinder fame). This bring the total number of maps on the site to six, all by Lazzaretti. He and I have worked very closely together to get the details of the world of Thrones & Bones exactly right (called the world of Qualth, with our focus thus far being on the continent of Katernia and the neighboring island-continent of Thica). I'm so fortunate to work with such a talented artist. Check out his gorgeous work and see more of the world of the Thrones & Bones series!
The Song of Helloppr
Helltoppr is an evil draug, an undead warrior who appears in the novel Frostborn and menaces my heroes. We get a snatch of "The Song of Helltoppr" in the book, and the full lyrics are printed in the appendices. When it came time to writing the song, I enlisted the help of my nephew, Jonathan Anders, who not only helped me compose the lyrics, but performed the song as well at the party for my book launch. Now, through the magic of YouTube, you can hear "The Song of Helltoppr" too.
I was a guest this week on the blog Supernatural Snark, where I got to talk about Norwegian mythology with a special focus on monsters! Check out Trolls, Dragons, and Linnorms... Oh My! for a look at the creatures that inhabit the world of Thrones & Bones and what inspired them.
