Long Overdue Update and Sale!
Hi all,
This newsletter is way, way overdue. I’ve started work for someone else on something secret and really cool that I can’t talk about but which is taking up a lot of time.
But that doesn’t mean things aren’t happening with Thrones & Bones. Quite the opposite.
First I’m working on a stand alone adventure for the Thrones & Bones: Norrøngard 5e campaign setting that takes place in the city of Sindholm. Vengeance of the Valravn (working title) is expected to be for 8th level characters and is shaping up to be one of the scarier things I’ve ever done. It deals with some dark aspects of Norse mythology but has a hopeful message about a topic dear to me that emerges from out of its shadows. More about that later this year.
And second, Tales from Stolki’s Mead Hall (also working title) is a really exciting project that marks a first for me. It’s an anthology—not a collection—of adult fantasy stories. To underscore why that’s a first in case you don’t know the distinction: a collection is a gathering of stories by one author, while an anthology is a gathering of stories by multiple authors. Yes, that’s right. Tales from Stolki’s Mead Hall is going to be an anthology of adult (not children’s) fantasy tales set in the country of Norrøngard all written by other writers. Three of the stories are already in and they are fantastic! I’m hoping to have this one out by the end of the year, though of course I’m depending on other people so it could potentially slide into early 2023. They’ll be hardcover, ebook, possible audiobook, and definitely deluxe gamer editions of the volume. Anthologies of stories in my world is something I’ve wanted to do since 2014, so it is a real thrill to be working on it now.
Finally, today through May 2, DriveThruRPG.com is running a Best of Print sale, featuring savings on 100 or so of their bestselling print titles. Both Thrones & Bones: Norrøngard (5e Campaign Setting) and the companion adventure book Thrones & Bones: Sagas of Norrøngard made the list! So if you are wanting a hardcover copy of either title, now's a good time to get them!
