New Project on the Horizon

It’s been a while…

I’ve been away, I know. For the last 8 months, I’ve been working for Meta on a fantasy IP. Yup, that Meta. And it’s been a wild ride let me tell you, but now it’s winding down. I hope I can tell you about it soon(ish).

However, a chunk of my time is mine again, and I’m happily back on my world of Thrones & Bones with several new projects.

This November, I’m returning to Kickstarter with Vengeance of the Valravn. This is a stand alone adventure for 7th level characters set in the world of the Thrones & Bones campaign setting. It’s co-written by Kobold Press regular Kelly Pawlik, with stunning cover art by William O’Brien, and it’s the darkest story I’ve yet told. Vengeance of the Valravn deals with some of the scarier creatures in Scandinavian folklore and mythology. I do promise a happy ending—provided your characters survive! The Kickstarter for Vengeance of the Valravn is expected to “kick off” on November 1st. You can sign up to be notified when it goes live by following the link above or here.

Next up is Tales from Stolki’s Tavern. This is a rather exciting project for me. It’s an entire book of short fiction set in the land of Norrøngard (as seen in my novel Frostborn and the Thrones & Bones roleplaying game) that ISN’T WRITTEN BY ME. Yup. It’s an anthology of stories all by other authors set in my world. And it’s not a children’s book either. These are adult fantasy stories, and folks who remember the decade and a half I spent as an editor in SF&F, you’ll recognize the names in the TOC. All but one of the stories are in, the cover art is in, and I’m expecting to launch this project in Q1 or Q2 next year. They’ll be a regular version and a Deluxe Gamer Edition with an appendix for fans of the RPG. It’s going to be quite something.

Which is a good place to point out that I have a Discord now. If you’re on Discord, you can join the official Thrones & Bones Discord Server here. It’s a little quiet now, but I do talk about stuff first there, and it’s going to get a lot busier come November!

Finally, I can’t say what it is yet, but I just handed in a short story of my own to a major anthology coming out next year. As soon as I can tell you what it is, I’ll be shouting it from the rooftops!

That’s it for now. I promise not to take so long until my next newsletter, but also never to do these things too frequently!
