Campaign Builder: Castles & Crowns

Draugr on a longship

I have a pattern of buying a lot more RPG manuals than I will ever read. I like having a big library of my interests, and I do pull them down and refer to specific parts of books as needed for the things that I'm working on. But, lately, I've been trying to actually read some of them cover to cover too.

Of course, I'll never work my way through all the books in my library—not as slowly as I read and as busy as I am. But I'm tackling them one by one anyway.

Recently, I finished Castles & Crowns, the second book in Kobold Press' excellent Campaign Builder series. I really enjoyed it, and I was surprised by the wealth of usable material it offered for Dungeons & Dragons and Tales of the Valiant kingdom-centered campaigns.

I decided to share my thoughts in a deep dive that goes through Castles & Crowns cover to cover. It's 20 minutes. I talk fast and cover a lot of material. Check it out!
