Everybody Dies!

This past Wednesday, my online group was down two players, so we pulled in a new face and we ran a one-shot from Beadle & Grimm's Faster, Purple Worm! Everybody Dies, Vol 1.

If you aren't familiar with it, this is a book of short Dungeons & Dragons adventures in which 1st level characters go up against high Challenge Rating classic monsters and, well, die horribly!

We ran "Everybody Dies in the Eye of the Beholder," in which the players are applicants to the shady and rogue-ridden merchant company, the Zhentarim, tasked with stealing something from the beholder crime boss, Xanathar.

You can imagine how well that went! Or, you don't have to imagine, if you want to see for yourself!

This was my first time DMing a 5.5 game. It was also my first time using Maps, the DNDBey0nd VTT which is the only platform the adventure is on. We had some trouble with Maps, which I didn't love, but we had an absolute blast anyway, pretty much laughing our way through the whole adventure.

I definitely recommend the book for fun last minute one-shots when you're down players. We'll be doing more of this in future I'm sure. Meanwhile, we'll soon be back to wrap up our Norrøngard Unscripted campaign. Until then, take care everyone!
