Two Anthologies & Their TOCs
Two Different Trips to the Land of the Ice and Snow
Hi everybody!
I’ve been sitting on some news for coming up on nine months now. While I’ve been focused on roleplaying games for the last three years, I keep a toe in children’s books. And I’ve been given permission to tout something I did last year that is coming out this year. So here goes…

I’ve got a short story in Disney Book’s upcoming All Is Found: A Frozen Anthology. Frozen is ten years old (can you believe it?), and so Disney has assembled a book of ten short stories to celebrate the film’s anniversary. I am unabashedly a big Frozen fan, and it was an honor to pen a tale about the characters in the movie, as well as to introduce a new-to-Arendelle monster from Scandinavian mythology. And you better believe I wrote some Olaf! On this frosty adventure, I’m joined by nine other wonderful writers, Karen Anne Buljo, Jen Calonita, Carey Corp, Delilah S. Dawson, Lorie Langdon, Mari Mancusi, Diana Peterfreund, Tiffany Schmidt, and Vera Strange. The anthology won't be released until November 7th. However, today through Friday, Barnes & Noble is having a special 25% off Preorder Promotion on thousands of books, ebooks, and audiobooks. All Is Found: A Frozen Anthology is part of that promotion, so you can order now and take advantage of the discount. Here is the placeholder cover of the book, though I am hoping I can show off the final one soon.

I said above we’d be making two trips to the land of the ice and snow and promised two TOCs. I’ve been working hard on Tales from Stolki’s Hall, the first Thrones & Bones anthology. As many of you know already, Thrones & Bones is the series title for my children’s fantasy anthology (Frostborn, Nightborn, Skyborn, out from Penguin Random House) and also my (not children’s) DnD roleplaying game setting, which is set thus far in the Norse-inspired land of Norrøngard, the country of the first novel. I’ve already worked with five wonderful game designers on the tabletop RPG, but Tales from Stolki’s Hall marks the first time that other prose writers have been invited into my world. Unlike the trilogy, this is an anthology of adult (not children’s) tales, all set in Norrøngard. The anthology launches on Kickstarter in early May, and it will feature an ebook and trade hardcover, along with a special “Deluxe Gamer Edition” in hardcover and PDF. This edition will be sized like the previous RPG books. It will be in full color, with a layout matching the Thrones & Bones game manuals, with chapter illustrations and a special appendix that provides stats for the magic items and monsters in the stories, so that they can be added to your own games. I’ve been sitting on the list of contributors for almost as long as I’ve been sitting on the aforementioned Frozen news, but at long last I am making it public. Here is the Table of Contents:
- Daughter of the Draugr - Joel Shepherd
- Lure of the Landkraken - Ed Greenwood
- Gull Stormbarn: The Thornblade - K. V. Johansen
- The Path of the Bear - Sarah L. Miles
- Sword of Vengeance - Jon Sprunk
- The North in Bondage - Clay Griffith and Susan Griffith
- The Butter Cat - Rachael Smith
- The Tower and the Raven - J. Dianne Dotson
- The Bear Son’s Tale - Jonathan Anders
- Runefall - Chris Willrich
Pretty nice ToC, isn’t it? You can sign up to be notified when Tales from Stolki’s Hall launches on Kickstarter at the link here. Meanwhile, since I busting my tail on it all last week, here is the full dust jacket for the trade hardcover edition! Wonderful cover art by William O’Brien.

And that’s enough news for now! I’m diving back into the land of the ice and snow. Until next time…
